Acclaimed singer/songwriter EG Kight set to appear at Poor David’s Pub
Multi-nominated roots/blues artist brings her
“country flavored southern fried blues” to Dallas on April 27th
.
NASHVILLE, TN — It’s been a busy couple of years for singer/songwriter and guitar player, EG Kight, with more accolades, more tour dates, and a book under consideration by a major book publisher. A veteran of the road, she’s performed in venues across the globe, and she’s been a part of fundraising concerts in Germany, Mexico, and Japan. And on April 27th, she brings her solo acoustic show to Poor David’s Pub in Dallas.Early in her career she was dubbed the “Georgia Songbird.” Through the years, Kight has received various music industry nominations, including six for Female Artist of the Year, three for Song of the Year, and one for Album of the Year. Her songs have been recorded by other artists, with several landing on two of Koko Taylor’s Grammy nominated albums, one on the legendary Dorothy Moore’s latest album, and two on former Little Feat lead singer Shaun Murphy’s latest release. Kight’s songs have also aired on three major TV networks, and she placed five songs in a movie slated for a 2017 release.

When she’s not on the road, she’s at home, writing more songs, working on her book, and raising her pet goats, on the land in rural Georgia that’s been in her family for four generations. Her roots go deep. And the Georgia Music Magazine noted that Kight is “a gentle and elegant woman who manages to channel Southern charm, sophistication and a fierce passion for music into one tremendously intoxicating voice.”

Kight’s live show is 80% original songs, equal parts blues, country, and americana. From clubs and theaters to house concerts and festivals, to “A Prairie Home Companion,” her unique blend of “country-flavored southern fried blues” appeals to the masses, no matter their taste. When asked about her upcoming show at Poor David’s Pub, Kight said “I have friends in Dallas, and I’ve always wanted to bring my show there. And when we learned about Poor David’s Pub, a true listening room, it seemed like a perfect fit. I look forward to seeing all my friends at the show, and meeting some new friends who share a love of music!”

One of Chattanooga’s favorites, EG Kight returns to the Tropicana Room
To perform select songs in celebration of the “Year of Georgia Music,” and her songs placed in upcoming movie

NASHVILLE, TN — It’s been a busy couple of years for singer, songwriter, guitar player, and photographer EG Kight, with more accolades, more touring, and a book deal in the works. After recently performing in six states in four weeks, she’s bringing her solo acoustic show back to the Tropicana Room, inside Chattanooga Billiards Club East on Saturday, December 10 at 8 pm.

Last year found Kight with a Blues Music Awards nomination for Best Traditional Female Artist, and she was named one of the Top 5 Best Blues Artists of 2014. This year Kight was honored with a 2016 Independent Blues Award nomination for Best Female Artist, and she had two of her original songs land on Shaun Murphy’s new release. Shaun is best known as the former lead singer for Little Feat, and she currently tours with Bob Seger.

Known as a true blues vocalist, early on in her career Kight was nicknamed the “Georgia Songbird.” Over the last several years, Kight has had songs on three major TV networks, and recently she placed five songs in a movie that is to be released this year. So it was only fitting that, when the Georgia Tourism Department recently put together a new Explore Georgia Songwriter Series featuring successful songwriters, celebrating the “Year of Georgia Music,” they asked Kight to help launch the series.

With more songs to write, more shows to perform, and a book to finish, Kight continues to forge ahead. And she wanted to bring one final show to her fans in Chattanooga, before the end of the year. Her shows are equal parts blues, country, americana, southern rock, jazz, gospel, and funk. And her unique blend of music appeals to the masses, no matter their taste. Georgia Music Magazine noted that Kight is “…a gentle and elegant woman who manages to channel Southern charm, sophistication and a fierce passion into one tremendously intoxicating voice.”

EG Kight, the 2013 Georgia Music Legend Award recipient,
to ring in the New Year at Chattanooga’s Tropicana Room,
and to raise awareness about the Johns Hopkins Encephalitis Center

NASHVILLE, TN – After a near-fatal illness sidelined her for a while, EG Kight knew she had to find a way to get back on stage. She had to keep making music, not because that’s what she does, but because that’s who she is. After initially not being able to talk, or walk without help, months after the diagnosis, she was singing again. It was a struggle, but she kept her faith, and didn’t lose hope. And now, many concerts and four years later, she brings her country-flavored southern-fried blues back to the Tropicana Room in Chattanooga on New Year’s Eve, and will be talking about her journey to recovery.

In recent years Kight has performed at fundraisers in Japan, Germany, and Mexico. She has appeared on the Children’s Miracle Network, and on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” Throughout her career she’s been nominated for nine blues music awards, twice for Song of the Year, and her songs have appeared on Nick at Nite, ABC Family, and the El Rey Network. And she has recently licensed five songs for a movie slated for a 2016 release.

named 2014 “Top 5 Blues Artist,” set for Inaugural Community Concert at
brand new state-of-the-art Union County Schools Fine Arts Center in Blairsville, GA

NASHVILLE, TN – Dubbed “The Georgia Songbird” decades ago for her rich, velvety voice, EG Kight has been making music since she was four years old, harmonizing in church before she even knew what that meant. Her mama sang in a Gospel quartet, and her grandma taught her to play guitar. Born and raised in Dublin, Georgia, music has been a huge part of the fabric of her life.

From Elvis and Johnny Cash, to Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt and Koko Taylor, Kight’s influences run wide and deep. Forging her own sound early in her career, her voice has captivated audiences across the globe. And on Saturday, September 19th, she brings her Blue South Band, and her unique blend of country-flavored southern-fried blues back home to Georgia, as the first artist to perform in the brand new $8 million state-of-the-art Union County Schools Fine Arts Center.

Funded completely by the E-SPLOSH tax that was voted on and approved by the voters of Union County, this new facility is paid for, and the school system is debt free. The Fine Arts Center will host many varied events, for both the schools and the community. Enriching the culture of Union County, residents are proud of what they built, and can look forward to gathering at the varied events. And it is fitting that Kight, the 2013 Georgia Music Legend Award recipient, be the first artist to perform for the community.
