My new children’s book!!

I don’t remember the last time I was THIS excited!! I’ve been working for the last year or so on a project, and it’s finally come together!
You know how much I love my goats, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to share them with the world. And now, with my new book, I can!!
This is a children’s picture book, but it has good advice for kids of all ages!
It features a lot of my kids that you already know, like Sippie, Moses, Cotton Top, and Sweetie. And I can’t wait for y’all to see it! I hope it’ll put a smile on your face!

Working on the new album! Adding new tour dates!
I can’t wait for y’all to hear my new album!!
I’ve been working hard with my trio in the studio on the new music, and we’re already booking dates into next year, and some will be CD release parties. We’re looking at a tentative street date in March, so keep an eye on my Tour Dates page to watch for shows in your area.

I’ve had a blast performing a lot of shows this year so far. I’ve been on stage in many different states and various venues, and I’ve gotten to do repeat shows at some of my favorite places, because they keep asking me back!
I’ve been to the Songbirds Guitar Museum in Chattanooga, the Vineville Music and the Arts series in Macon, Bradfordville Blues Club in Tallahassee, the Hey Hey Bar & Grill in Columbus, the Crimson Moon, the Tunes by the Tracks concert series, WMOT’s Finally Friday show in Nashville, several summer concert series, a coffee house, a garden club, an apple orchard, a Blues Society event, a yacht club, an auditorium, house concerts, and several private events. I’m just takin’ my shows everywhere, letting the fans soak up all the blues/roots/americana/R&B music I can toss at them!
Along the way, my fans are so good to me, showering me with love, and lots of Lay’s potato chips! Look what they did at a recent house concert in Knoxville!
I love my fans. I love my music. And I love my life. I’m so blessed…

I’m recovering, and on the road again!
Hi Everybody!
A lot has happened since my last blog. I’ve been recovering from being attacked by three pitbulls.
It’s been over three months now, and I just got dismissed from my wound care doctor this week. He said I’d probably have pain from my injuries for another six months. Oh well, things are a lot better than they were, and I know in time I’ll be okay. Thanks so much to all of you who have reached out to me, sent gifts, thoughts, and prayers. You have been a real strength for me through this process.
I’ve finally been able to play some gigs. It’s been just what the doctor ordered. I’ve been playing some solo shows and have had a few trio shows. I am really enjoying my trio! Gary Porter and Ken Wynn are a joy to work with, and they always keep a watchful eye out for me. They are like family. If you haven’t heard the trio, I hope we make it to your area soon. I want everybody to hear us!
I recently went to Memphis to attend the Blues Music Awards and they were awesome! It’s always like a family reunion. Talk about hugs, I sure got a lot of them! Here’s a picture of me with (l to r) Lisa Biales, Gil Anthony, Deb Ryder, and Hurricane Ruth. We were havin’ a ball!
On my way to Memphis, I stopped by in Nashville and worked with Pat Alger. Pat has written many hit songs for various artists through the years, including “The Thunder Rolls,” “What She’s Doing Now,” and “Unanswered Prayers” for Garth Brooks. And Kathy Mattea, Hal Ketchum, and Don Williams have recorded some of his songs. I’m honored to write with him, and I’m learning so much. We’ve already written “Wherever You Are,” a great song about special people, and we hope to get it out there soon!
And Jody Jackson called and asked me to play a songwriter’s show in Atlanta recently with Pat Alger and Tony Arata. Tony wrote “The Dance” for Garth, and his songs have been recorded by some of my favorite artists, such as Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, and Delbert McClinton.
Tony and Pat were both so sweet and encouraging to me. They’re both good ole Georgia boys, and they feel like old friends now. And I look forward to seeing them again soon.

And another good ole Georgia boy I got to spend some time with recently is Chuck Leavell, whom I’ve know for many years. He played on my “Southern Comfort” album, and tours with the Rolling Stones. He had a fundraising event at his farm, and he invited me up to sing with him. We had so much fun, and a good time was had by all!!

I’ve been on the road! Festivals, concert series, apple orchard, yacht club, songwriters night, and everything in between!
I’ve been a lot of places since my last blog update, and I want to tell you all about it!
After playing at a couple of private parties, I performed at a couple of festivals, a summer concert series, some of my favorite spots in Ohio, a coffee house and an apple orchard in Indiana, a yacht club and a pub in east Tennessee, a private room in a billiards club in Chattanooga, and a songwriters night in Georgia.

I was excited to head up to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with my band for the Edmonton Blues Festival. It’s been many years since I was up that far north, and the welcome we received warmed our hearts!
And just last week while I was on the road, I read an email that moved me to tears. The Edmonton festival organizer, Cam Hayden, wrote:
“EG Kight brought the house down and and brought a tear to my eye with her heartfelt, deeply moving, personal songs, delivered in a truly touching manner. Her sweet soul shone through the songs that captured the audience and took us all to a higher plane.”
This is why I continue to do what I do, taking my music out to the people, hoping to touch their hearts, and make a difference. I’m so grateful to be living my dream…
Some of you were at a recent show I did in LaGrange, Georgia. ExploreGeorgia.org hosts a series of songwriters events, promoting the state as a destination for live music and music heritage. And I was invited to join Pat Alger and Tony Arata for this show. But Tony had to have surgery, and wasn’t able to make it. I’m sending love and prayers out to him for a speedy recovery.
LaGrange is Pat’s hometown, and it was good to see the Mayor proclaim it “Pat Alger Day.” Another great writer, Johnny Bulford, who wrote Lee Brice‘s #1 hit “A Woman Like You, joined us, filling in for Tony. I was in great company, and we had a ball!

You may know Pat as the writer of “Unanswered Prayers” and “The Thunder Rolls,” which were hits for Garth Brooks. He’s also had songs recorded by many other artists, and I love his style. But what surprised me, and the audience, I think, was when I threw it on him and asked him to join me on a blues song. He picked that guitar and I loved every minute of it! Thanks to Lisa Love and Jody Jackson for booking me on the same stage as these guys. It was an amazing night!

As you know, many artists constantly reinvent themselves. I’m trying something new this coming weekend, at Perk Avenue in Madison, Georgia. I’ve got an acoustic trio, and I can’t wait for y’all to hear us! My lead guitar player, Ken Wynn, and my drummer, Gary Porter, will join me to make some acoustic music for you. We’d love to see all y’all there! Details are on my Tour Dates page.
Then I’m headed back up to Dahlonega to The Crimson Moon Cafe for a show on one of my favorite stages. I love being in the north Georgia mountains, and I love this cafe. That’s why I keep going back. If you’re in the area, you’ll want to come on out and see how the town gets all dressed up for the holidays!
And I’ve got some Christmas parties in the works, too. If you’d like some Songbird music at your Christmas party, just let us know. I bet we could work something out.
We’re working on a lot of dates for next year, and I’ll be headed to some new areas. Y’all keep an eye on my schedule and we’ll post the dates as they are confirmed.

Goats, songs, gas pumps, Mama, Chattanooga, and Canada!
Of course, my pet goats get a lot of my attention every day when I’m at home.
Here’s me holding Moses, a truly precious goat.
And I’m still working on a couple of new songs, and getting set lists ready for some upcoming shows. I love being home, and I love being on the road, seeing all of you!

On August 25th my band and I will board a big jet plane, and head north to Canada for the Edmonton Blues Festival! It’s been a long time since I’ve been up there, and I’m sure looking forward to seeing Cam Hayden, and all my friends up there. They’ve got a fabulous lineup, including Victor Wainwright, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Colin Linden Trio, Toni Lynn Washington, Mike Ledbetter, Monster Mike Welch, and so many more amazing artists. If you don’t have tickets yet, ya better get ya some!
A couple of weeks ago, I was with my band at Bradfordville Blues Club in Tallahassee. We always have a great time there, and our friends out in radio land and online get to listen to the first set. That’s the next best thing to being there! Here’s a photo that Gary Anton took of all of us on stage. We were having a naturally LARJ time!
We always look forward to our shows there, and we’ll be back in January, to celebrate a couple of birthdays – Gary Anton’s and mine! Make plans now to be part of the celebration!
Last weekend I did a solo show at one of my favorite cafes, up in the north Georgia mountains – The Crimson Moon Cafe in Dahlonega.
It was great to see so many friends and family, who drove from all over the state to see me! And it’s always good to have my mama with me. Here’s a picture that Elizabeth Adams took of us. I got Mama up to sing a song with me, and everyone seemed to love it. And I love my mama! Can you tell?!?
On our way back home from Dahlonega, we headed over to one of my regular stops along the way – Murrayville. This is where I’ve gotten so many of my favorite photos over the last few years. This time, I got a couple more. See what you think.

Summer NAMM in Nashville!
I had a blast at Summer NAMM last week, and enjoyed visiting with some friends that I ran into.
For those who don’t know, NAMM is the National Association of Music Merchants, and a couple of times a year they have a convention, where the merchants and manufacturers exhibit their goods. And boy are they good!!
For a musician, it’s like being a kid in a candy store. There are aisles and aisles of instruments and gear, and it’s hard to know what to look at next! And there doesn’t seem to be enough time to see it all!
I’ve been to NAMM several times before, but this time was really special, because my guitar tech, Mark Graham, and his wife Latralle got to join me.
Mark looks after my guitars and equipment, and it was a proud moment when I got to introduce him to VP, Tim O’Brien and Kurt Listug, the CEO of Taylor Guitars.
I’ve played Taylor guitars for a long time, and everyone at Taylor has been so good to me through the years. So this was a special time, just chatting with the guys who keep things going at the company.
And I want to send a big “Thanks” out to Robin Straudt, who takes care of so many details for me.
I got to play a lot of the guitars Taylor had at the show. Here’s a snippet of me playing the Taylor 916ce. It sounded SO good, and I had a ball with it!

It was interesting, too, seeing all the music industry people there. One of the first artists I ran into was Rory Feek. You may know him from the duo Rory + Joey. And you may know the story of him and his wife, Joey, and their daughter, Indiana. If you don’t, you should. HAPPY 2017! RECAP OF 2016!
My latest album is called “A New Day,” and most of you know why…
And today is a new day, the first day of a brand new year. I wanted to take some time today, to review last year, and share the things I look forward to this year. In 2016, I did some exciting things, and even marked off one of the things on my bucket list.

– With my Blue South Band, we helped Gary Anton celebrate his birthday, along with mine, at Bradfordville Blues Club. If you haven’t been there yet, and you’re a true blues lover, you absolutely have to check it out. It’s one of the coolest venues I’ve EVER been in, and once you get a taste of the vibe there, you’ll want to keep going back.
– I spent some time in Nashville, which I hadn’t done in a while, had several co-writing sessions, and even performed in a writers round at the Commodore Club, hosted by Debi Champion. It was great to see and hear old friends, JC Ward, and Diane Gentes! It brought back a lot of memories from the old Bogie’s and Broken Spoke days.
– I performed at more house concerts, and I just have to say that I REALLY enjoy doing that kind of a show. It’s an intimate listening room environment, and I can practically reach out and touch my audience from the stage. I love the feeling of being so close to the fans, and they seem to enjoy the up-close-and-personal concerts.
– I did another singer/songwriter night with my longtime friend, Becky Hobbs, and Lucy Billings, at the Renaissance Arts Center Theatre in Kingsport. There’s something so comfortable about sharing the stage with friends and hearing them sing their own songs. I had the best seat in the house!
– And my friend, Michael Buffalo Smith invited me to do another writers round with Sonny Moorman and Russell Gulley, for a benefit for The Big House Museum. That was a fun afternoon, too, and it was for a good cause!
– One of the most exciting writers shows that I did was in my own hometown of Dublin, Georgia! I was part of the launching of a new songwriters series for ExploreGeorgia.org, celebrating “The Year of Georgia Music.” Levi Lowrey and Greg Hester joined me at the Historic Carnegie Library, and we sang our original songs for my hometown fans. Thanks to Lisa Love and Jody Jackson for putting that show together, and inviting me to be a part of it!
– I also did some shows up in Ohio, Indiana, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Mississippi. From a concert in an apple orchard, to clubs, to house concerts, to a membership kickoff event for Marcia Adams and her new Indy Blues Society, to a chapel concert series, to a theater, a museum, and a yacht club, to festivals, to private parties, to a coffee house, I had a great year! I love performing for old and new fans alike, and I’m excited about some things we’re working on for this year. We’ve got some different things on the horizon, and I can’t wait to see how they turn out.
– And last year I did something I haven’t done in 20 years or more – I took a vacation, and went to Wyoming to take pictures!! I hope to knock a few more things off my bucket list this year. Stay tuned!
– Last year set a record for my photography sales! And I won more ribbons, too! I’m so thrilled that y’all like my pictures, and I’ve added some new ones to my photography page. Coming up this year, I want you all to be watching out for the movie, “Collar,” too. Five of my songs are in it! I’ve seen a sneak preview of it, and it’s a well-written movie, and you’ll recognize some of the actors – Tom Sizemore, Rebecca DeMornay, Richard Roundtree, and David Patrick Wilson. As you can see, it was an incredibly busy year. This year I’ll be at home for a bit, working on a few secret projects. I’ll let you know when they’re almost ready to announce.

Donations for East Tennessee fire victims
I’ve been watching the news about the fires in East Tennessee, and I know first-hand how terrifying that can be. This is a photo of the famous chapel in Gatlinburg. It’s gone now…
Last Friday night, the woods behind my house caught on fire. The smoke was so thick back behind my goat pen that I couldn’t even tell where the fire started. And I’m so grateful to the firefighters for getting to it as quickly as they did, and for stopping it from spreading any further than it did. I found out that someone lost their house and everything in it.
Today is Giving Tuesday, and I want to do what I can to help raise money for all those devastated by the fires. I have a lot of friends in Nashville, and I know that the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee there is sending money to help the East Tennessee residents, for immediate and long term needs.
I also want to spread the message of not giving up in the face of adversity.
My songs “Don’t Give Up” and “Holdin’ On” are on my A NEW DAY album. And I want to share those songs with everyone right now.
Today through Saturday, I’ll be donating ALL the proceeds from the sale of my music to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. My manager will personally take a check to their office on Monday.

Six states in four weeks! Bucket List, Goats, Upcoming Shows!
Hi Y’all!
I just wanted to let you know what I’ve been up to lately. October was one of the busiest months I’ve ever had, with performances in 6 states in 4 weeks!
One of my shows was in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where I performed for a private event for some California folks at the world famous Shack Up Inn. That is a fascinating place! It’s on a plantation, and the rooms for lodging were once sharecropper shacks. It’s also a great place to take a camera, which I did, of course. Here are a couple of shots that I captured there.
A couple of months ago I took my first vacation in over 20 years! I headed out west to take photos. It’s a part of the country I’ve always wanted to see. I went to Wyoming and Idaho, and I got to see a little part of Montana. I still can’t get over the beauty that’s there. I could’ve taken thousands of pictures because everywhere I looked, there was beauty. I finally got to mark that off my bucket list! And I can’t wait to go back!
When I got back home, I performed at a Summer Concert Series in Rutledge, Georgia, then after a couple of dates in Pennsylvania, my band and I played at the Blues & BBQ Festival in Hinesville, and it was a lot of fun! It’s always a treat to have my band back me up. They are a treasure to me.
Next I was off to Jacksonville where I sang in the Historic Chapel Concert Series again, and then I was off to Indiana and Ohio. Not long after that I was on the stage at the Tellico Village Yacht Club in Loudon, Tennessee. That was another beautiful area of our country that I got to enjoy while I was there.
In between all of my travels, I’ve been working on a little project with my goat photos. I’ll let you in on the exciting developments soon! By the way, I think I’m going to have some more little baby goats any day now. Keep an eye on my social media pages for breaking news about that!
A few weeks ago I made a return appearance in Madison at Perk Avenue. Madison is a little Georgia town that’s beautiful and picturesque. The Saturday after Thanksgiving I’ll be at the Crimson Moon Café in Dahlonega, another quaint town up in the north Georgia mountains. The town will be all lit up, and the sights and sounds of the holidays will be all around. Y’all come see me, and let’s get in the Christmas spirit together!
Then on December 10th I’ll be back in Chattanooga, at the Tropicana Room. I love performing there, and getting to visit with all my friends. If you’re out and about, around the south, come see me! Details are on my TOUR DATES page.
We’re working on some really exciting things for next year, and as soon as they’re confirmed, we’ll let you know. We’re talking to some festival organizers, and looking at some new venues in some new areas, based on what the fans have been requesting. So stay tuned!
